McNair Scholar Maggie Hartman joined McNair in December of 2015. Maggie is a Biology major who plans to pursue a graduate degree in entomology. This summer she is engaged in research with a team from Michigan State University.
You may have heard stories in the news about how important bees are as pollinators of our food and all sorts of other plants. Along with Mario S. Pinilla-Gallego, Maggie is working on a project entitled “Nesting and soil preference of O. cornifrons and O. lingnaria.” Their goal is to learn more about these two other species of bees to see if they could be used as commercial pollinators like the European honey bee.
Maggie’s field work looks pretty cool. Check it out.
